KAWE CITY WAS NOMINATED IN THE ‘DEVELOPMENT PROJECT 2022’ CATEGORY
In September 2022, Kawe’s newest office building – Kawe City – was completed in the heart of Tallinn. The office building with outstanding architecture did not go unnoticed. The recently completed office building was nominated in the category of ‘Development Project 2022’ of the Tallinn Business Awards.
Kawe City is located in the City Centre, on the corner of Pärnu Hwy and Estonia Ave, overlooking Freedom Square. The building, which is modern and reflects the contemporary present, is characterised by its striking architecture, a part of which is the preserved picturesque façade of the building created by architect Ernst Kühnert.
The spacious seven storey building has 9,250 m2 of rentable space. Floors 2–7 are home to offices, with service rooms and retail spaces located on the ground floor.
Kawe City follows environmentally friendly ways of thinking, with the building featuring:
- large windows and high ceilings, which allow maximum access of light to offices, thereby reducing energy costs for lighting
- Energy-saving LED lighting throughout the building and motion sensor equipped lighting in common areas
- Transparent exterior curtains automatically descend in front of the windows, which protect workers from excessive solar heat in summer and keep cooling costs low
- Partial control of the temperature through open concrete surfaces, which, depending on the season, effectively accumulate both warm and cold temperatures
- Energy efficient water underfloor heating, which provides additional heat in winter solar panels on the rooftop, which help reduce general electricity costs secure parking for 60 bicycles
- availability of charging points for electric cars in the underground car park
- The building has a class A energy efficiency rating, and an application has been submitted to obtain the BREEAM environmentally friendly certification level of Excellent.

The building was built by Riser Ehitus OÜ, which earned the title in 2021 of construction company with the best and most correct construction site in Tallinn, having been awarded precisely for the construction of the Kawe City office building. The total cost of construction was EUR 13.5 million.
